The annual Riding of the Marches takes place tomorrow, Sunday.

The procession begins in Broad Street at 2pm, where OIC convener Councillor Steven Heddle will hand over the Burgh Standard to standard-bearer Katie Coward.

Katie has had a lifelong involvement with horses, learning to ride on the farm from a young age.

She is a former chief instructor of the Orkney Branch of the Pony Club and was, along with her children, a member of the Orkney Carriage Driving Group for many years.

During Sunday’s event, Katie will be flanked by last year’s standard-bearer, Sarah Reid, and next year’s, Christina Bichan.
