Fatal road accident in Kirkwall

A woman has died after a road accident in Kirkwall last night.

The incident, involving the female pedestrian and a car, occurred around 9pm on Saturday night on Thoms Street.

According to police, the female pedestrian involved in the collision was conveyed by ambulance to Balfour Hospital, but died as a result of her injuries.

The road is expected to remain closed until Sunday afternoon, while inquiries are carried out by officers of Northern Constabulary Road Policing Unit.
