Footage of ship rescue released by Coastguard

Footage of the rescue operation launched early this morning  to aid a cargo ship which had broken down and was taking in water off Orkney has been released by the Coastguard.

Stromness and Kirkwall Lifeboats, the Coastguard tug, and a Sumburgh based Coastguard search and rescue chopper were all involved in the incident in going to the aid of the 99m long ship Skog, which is carrying a cargo of paper.

The ship, which is manned by 10 crew, is now being towed to Kirkwall by the tug after pumps were lowered to the vessel to help cope with the ingress of water.
