Busy weekend of football

Kirkwall Thorfinn are set to take on Black Isle side and defending champions, Avoch in the Highland Amateur Cup semi-final in Golspie this afternoon. The game, due to kick off at 1pm, was called off last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch in Castletown.

The team and spectators are due to leave the county this morning with Pentland Ferries and are hopeful of that they can progress to the final of a cup that they won in 1986/87 and 2008/09.

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, Orkney are set to take on Highland League side, Wick Academy at the Pickaquoy pitch in the Green Challenge Cup. Kick off is at 12.30pm.

On Sunday, the first leg of The Orcadian Parish Cup semi-finals are due to take place. In the first game of the day, Stromness are to host St Andrews at the Market Green at 3pm. At 7pm, Rendall are due to take on Holm in the day’s other semi final.
