Holm through to Parish Cup final

Holm are the first team to make it to The Orcadian Parish Cup final as they beat Rendall 2-0 at the Rockworks, 3-0 on aggregate.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg, Holm had a slight advantage going into the second leg. The first 45 minutes produced few clear cut chances with both teams battling hard for any opening. Magnus Flett went closest with the last action of the half as his backward header rebounded off the bar.

The second half was a far more open affair but it was Holm who got the crucial first goal of the game. Scott Rendall’s excellent low cross found Chris Simpson at the back post who slid the ball home. Holm made it two soon after when Simpson turned provider and sent another excellent low cross into the box, Neil Ewing beat Gary Nicolson to the ball to stick the ball into the net.

Rendall fought hard but struggled to create any real chances as Holm saw out the game fairly comfortably.

In the day’s other semi final, Stromness hold the advantage as they take on St Andrews with a 3-2 lead from the first game. The game is due to kick off at 7pm at The Rockery in Rendall.
