In this week’s The Orcadian
This week’s edition of The Orcadian is now in shops and is available online, here.
The fall-out from Orkney Islands Council’s decision to import 80,000 tonnes of stone continues this week.
John Mundell, the council’s interim chief executive, has vowed to uncover the “full facts” into the procurement and tendering process of the order — but continues to resist calls to commence an external investigation.
An internal audit is under way but that is unlikely to be enough to satisfy the huge discontent surrounding the order which was made without consulting local quarries first.
