Kirkwall BID manager steps down
Kirkwall BID has reviewed its staffing structure amid the departure of its manager.
Morgan Maxton Walls, who has served in the role since January, will be stepping down.
During her time with the organisation, which promotes business in Kirkwall’s town centre, Mrs Maxton Walls has played a central role in delivering successful events, including Games on the Green and the Dog Friendly Day.
She also worked closely with businesses, partners, and community stakeholders, supporting initiatives designed to promote collaboration, increase footfall, and further enhance the vibrancy of Kirkwall’s town centre. This included efforts during the International Island Games in July — making sure the town was ready to welcome thousands of international guests.
“I have enjoyed working with the Kirkwall BID members, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” said Mrs Maxton Walls, in a statement confirming her departure.
“This was not an easy decision, but it is the right one for me at this time.
“I’m confident that Kirkwall BID will continue moving forward with strength and purpose and I wish the Kirkwall BID continued success in the future.”
Chairwoman of Kirkwall BID, Cheryl Chapman, has wished the outgoing manager a fond farewell.
“We are very sorry to be losing Morgan who has given a lot of energy and effort to the role and made a really positive impression with members,” she said.
“We wish her well for the future.”
The board of Kirkwall BID has confirmed, this Monday, that it has reviewed the staff structure of BID and will go forward with a part-time BID manager, supported by a part-time events and admin officer, and a part-time marketing and social media manager. The first two roles will be advertised shortly.
