Last week’s cancelled air ambulance visit rescheduled

After fog and low cloud saw last Saturday’s planned visit by a new Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) H145 helicopter cancelled, the aircraft is due in the county today, Saturday.

A spokesman for SAS said: “We are hugely disappointed that Saturday’s planned community tour for the new H145 air ambulance helicopter had to be postponed due to weather conditions in the islands.

“We want to ensure that communities get the opportunity to see the new aircraft and talk to crews before it comes into service.”

The helicopter is now due visit eight locations throughout the county today:

  • 9.45am Hoy (Longhope Surgery)
  • 10.45am Rousay (GP Surgery).
  • 11.40pm Westray (airstrip).
  • 12.40pm North Ronaldsay (airstrip).
  • 1.35pm Sanday (airstrip).
  • 2.30pm Eday (airstrip).
  • 3.25pm Stronsay (airstrip).
  • 4.20pm Kirkwall Airport.
