Muce shearling takes top ram prize

Today’s Orkney Sheep Breeders Association show and sale of breeding rams saw a Charollais shearling, shown by Sheena Coghill, Muce, Birsay, take the top prize — the Ron Sabiston Cup for Champion of Champions.

The show took place this morning at Orkney Auction Mart with the overall winner picked from the four section champions by mart auctioneer John Copland just before 10.30am.

The winner is called Hekra Orcadian Boy and is out of a home-bred ewe and a home-bred ram.

The four judges for this years competition were Bryden Anderson, Robert Ramsay and Marcus Georgeson, all from Shetland, and Ronnie Baillie from Toab.
