Ahead of Tuesday’s Battle of Jutland commemorations, vessels from the UK and German navies have started arriving in the county.

Eight P2000 patrol boats arrived yesterday, Friday, with four at Scapa and four in Stromness.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the Federal German Navy Frigate Schleswig-Holstein will take up position in Gutter Sound, between Cava and Hoy, at 7am. It will be joined by HMS Kent at 2pm.

HMS Bulwark will call in at Scapa at 10am to drop of landing craft, before heading to its berth at Hatston Pier.
