A first half Chris Hellewell hat-trick saw Orkney FC make it back-to-back Ness Cup victories in a dramatic 3-2 win over Invergordon this afternoon in Halkirk.

With the wind on their backs in the first half on what was a cold but dry day, the cup appeared to be heading back across the Pentland Firth when man of the match Hellewell rolled in his third of the match after 35 minutes, just seconds after scoring a simply magnificent volleyed second.

Being three goals down at the break, Invergordon came out in the second half with nothing to lose and they gave themselves hope with two second half strikes, but, despite a fantastic opportunity in the final 30 seconds, they couldn’t force the match into a penalty shoot-out.

This left everyone connected with Orkney FC celebrating a second consecutive season with silverware.Â
