New dental services will see waiting times reduce, says NHS Orkney

The announcement that two new dental practices are to open in Kirkwall should see waiting times for NHS dentistry fall, according to NHS Orkney.

Both practices will include services for NHS patients, replacing the general dental service currently provided by NHS salaried dentists.

Under the proposed changes, six new surgeries will open in Kirkwall – Amy and Scott Tulloch will open two on Victoria Street, Kirkwall where they will operate their new NHS practice Orkney Dental.  John Barry will open four surgeries based in the Earls Palace Dental Centre, with the Station Centre transferring back to Dr Barry, who will move his private practice there and use the Earls Palace for NHS patients.

The aim is to have the new arrangements in place by the end of March.

All patients currently registered with Station Dental Centre are being informed about the new service and the opportunities the changes present.
