Orkney Tourism Group is set to fly the flag for the islands at a major international travel trade event which takes place in Edinburgh next week.

The VisitScotland Expo 2016 gives Scottish tourism businesses the chance to promote their products and services to potential buyers from around the globe.

Regarded as Scotland’s flagship business-to-business travel trade event, the expo attracts representatives from all sectors of the international tourism industry, including coach tour operators, group travel organisers, tourism product wholesalers, specialist and independent tour operators and travel media.

A team from Orkney Tourism Group, which represents over 400 tourism businesses in the islands, will attend the two-day event being held at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, over 20 and 21 April.

Joining OTG on the Orkney stand at the expo will be local businesses, the Orkney Brewery and the Ferry Inn. Orkney Craft Association is also planning to launch its new Orkney Craft Trail brochure at the event.

In addition, the Orkney contingent will form part of a larger Northern Isles expo area that includes NorthLink Ferries, Pentland Ferries and VisitShetland.

• The history, heritage and archaeology of Orkney is all part of a themed trip to the islands organised for a group of international tour operators from as far afield as Australia and Brazil as part of the VisitScotland expo 2016.

During the four-day familiarisationtrip, from Saturday to Tuesday, the eight delegates will visit some of Orkney’s most well-known and celebrated visitor attractions during their stay, organised by VisitScotland.

During their trip, the tour operators from Australia, the Netherlands, Brazil, America, France and Austria, will also enjoy hospitality at a number of locations.
