Orkney folk have been let down, says Manifesto Group

The three islands councillors who make up the Orkney Manifesto Group (OMG) have expressed extreme disappointment with both Serco NorthLink and the Scottish Government over what they describe as an apparent lack of action following the breakdown of the Hamnavoe.

Councillor Alistair Gordon, leader of the OMG, said “This is Orkney’s lifeline service and yet no-one appears to know what’s happening.

“What is the contingency plan? Does Serco know? Does the Scottish Government know? If so, why has there been such a deafening silence over the weekend?”

“We feel that the people of Orkney have been let down by the parties involved, in particular with the apparent lack of engagement between Serco, the Scottish Government and Orkney Islands Council.”
