Orkney RFC head to Ayrshire as season’s end draws near

Orkney RFC are set to embark on their second consecutive away match this weekend in the first part of a double-header against Ayrshire side Irvine.

Orkney’s first season back in the national leagues is drawing to a close but before they hang up their boots for the season, they have home and away ties against Irvine and a final match of the season away to Dalziel to navigate.

A four-match winning streak came to an end last weekend with defeat to West of Scotland — a result which eight first team regulars missed through injury — and left Orkney in fifth position on 52 points.

Both scheduled matches against Irvine have been victims of postponements but Orkney will be hoping for a positive result against a side sitting second-bottom in BT National League Division 3.

Kick-off on Saturday at Irvine Community Sports Club is currently scheduled for 3pm but may be subject to change.
