Police Station evacuated

Kirkwall Police Station has been evacuated this evening, after officers received a suspicious package at around 4.15pm.

A Police Scotland spokesman has said that EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) has been informed as is procedure, and the building has been evacuated as a precaution.

The spokesman assured that there is no danger to the public, and that access to nearby Great Western Road is restricted while inquiries are carried out.
