Prepare for strong winds say Police Scotland

Following reports of a yellow weather alert (be aware) for the Highlands and Islands, Police Scotland and partner agencies are reminding the public to be prepared for potential disruption in response to weather warnings for strong winds during this evening.
In addition to the high winds and lightning forecast, there are warnings of large waves.
Members of the public, businesses and communities are advised to plan ahead and prepare for possible power outages ahead of the storm. Where possible, secure outdoor items which could be dangerous in the wind. It is also asked that communities look out for vulnerable neighbours.
SEPA will continue to monitor the situation and would encourage the public to check the SEPA website for active flood warnings. Members of the public should call SEPA’s Floodline on 0345 988 1188, for the most up to date information on their area. Where there are disruptions to power the public are advised to call SSE on 0800 300 999.
