An Orkney lass who made a whirlwind leap-year proposal on the airwaves this morning has won a “wedding in a day” experience and a holiday in Canada.

Charlotte Leask, 27, scooped the prize, after entering Heart Scotland’s “Wedding in a Day” competition.

Edinburgh-based Charlotte, proposed to her partner of eight years, Calum Beck, 26, from Falkirk, and was thrilled when he said yes.

Then the couple went head to head with other hopefuls to win the prize — but after popping balloons and finding the lucky ring, Charlotte and Calum were crowned victors during this morning’s live grand finale, on Heart Breakfast with Robin Galloway and Adele Cunningham.

Charlotte and Calum were immediately whisked away for their “big day” which entails everything from choosing wedding rings, to picking a wedding dress and kilt, as well as making a pit stop for a mini lunchtime hen and stag do.

After a quick change, the happy couple will be chauffeured back to the studio at Heart Scotland — which has been transformed into a wedding venue — to have their union blessed in a humanist ceremony, witnessed by a group of close family and friends.

They will also be jetting off to Canada to enjoy their ‘honeymoon,’ courtesy of Canadian Affair, with £1,000 to spend.

In the midst of the excitement, Charlotte said: “I feel overwhelmed at the moment, it doesn’t feel real! I just can’t believe we won.”
Tune into www.heart.co.uk/scotland/ online, to hear the happy couple’s humanist ceremony with family and friends, on Heart Drivetime, at 5pm today.
