Road surface dressing update for Hoy

Work starts today, Tuesday, July 17, on the B9047 (the main Moaness -Lyness- Longhope road), on a 1km section either side of Lyrawa Bay in North Hoy. This is expected to carry on throughout much of tomorrow as well.

Once this stretch is complete, work will move onto a section of the B9047 between Rysa Lodge and just west of Muckle Rysa (a few miles north of Lyness). This is expected to take place tomorrow and Thursday.

The final section of work will be on the B9047 at Lyness, from the Hoy Hotel to just past the School (Hoy and North Walls Community School). This is expected to take place this Thursday and Friday.

There are no diversion routes for all these works, however the team will make every effort to maintain access for vehicles and will ensure ferry traffic can get through. OIC is asking folk to allow an extra twenty minutes for their journey.

No public bus services are affected.

You can stay tuned to the  ‘OIC Updates’ Facebook page and ‘OIC Roads’ Twitter feed for updates.
