Rob May wins Open Stage
Singer-songwriter Rob May has been named the winner of this year’s Orkney Folk Festival’s Open Stage Competition.
The 24-year-old, who hails from South Africa, recently moved to the UK. Over the past month, he has been residing in Orkney and says he has been inspired by the lifestyle and landscape of the islands.
Runners-up were 13-year-old fiddle-player, Thea Wilson, and folk duo Ewan and Fergus.
