Rotary Young Musician Competition draws near
Under 18s have until midnight this Sunday to enter Orkney’s heat of the Rotary Young Musician Competition.
The annual competition will be taking place on Sunday, November 25, in the King Street Halls, Kirkwall from 2.30-4.30pm, and will offer young people with musical aspirations the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Young, accomplished musicians and singers who are in full-time education and will be 17 or younger on August 31, 2019, are encouraged to take part.
Robin Barr will be judging this year’s entrants, and will elect an instrumental and a vocal winner to go through to the next round in Perth. The competition’s final is set to take place in Essex next May.
Refreshments will be offered throughout the event and last year’s vocal winner — Joanne Rendall, a pupil at the Kirkwall Grammar School — will be performing during the interval of the competition.
Entry forms are available from the KGS, Stromness Academy and Gemma McGregor (873539), or can be found online at: www.rotarygbi.org
