Senior netballers face Shetland at Picky

Orkney’s senior inter-county netball players face Shetland in the Pickaquoy Centre today, Saturday.

The teams, selected by Karen Burns, Ruth Eunson and Claire Irvine, have a variety of youth and experienced players. Orkney also has nine new caps.

This year’s Orkney ‘A’ team captain is Inga Kemp, with Hannah Cursiter captaining the ‘B’ side – both girls have eight caps for the Orkney Senior Squad.  Stalwart player Michelle Clouston is set to gain her 17th cap this year, while the ‘B’ team has 4 new caps in its starting line-up.

Last year, the Orkney ‘B’ team beat Shetland 29-28, retaining the trophy for the first time in five years. The ‘A’ team was unfortunate to lose by seven goals in Shetland.

The ‘B’ team begins at 1pm, with the ‘A’ teams taking to the court at 3pm.
