Stromness march into Parish Cup semi-finals

Stromness are the first side in the 2016 Parish Cup semi-finals as they swept aside St Ola in a dominant 5-0 (6-3 aggregate) win.

Having lost the first-leg 3-1, progress was far from assured for the reigning champions. However, a dominant performance from the first minute to the last, to which an understrength St Ola side had no answer saw Stromness navigate their way safely into the semi-finals for a third successive season.

Liam Martin took advantage of lackadaisical defending to bundle the home side into an early lead, before he doubled his tally five minutes later to level the tie at 3-3 on aggregate. Ross Slater got Stromness’s third on 20 minutes to leave the west side in a commanding position at the break.

Slater grabbed a hat-trick with two goals in the second period as St Ola exited the competition meekly.
