Stromness launch for Greenvoe CD
An audio production of George Mackay Brown’s first novel, Greenvoe, was launched in Stromness this evening.
Greenvoe was successfully adapted into a community play by Alan Plater, and performed by St Magnus Players, in 2000, at the St Magnus Festival in Orkney — and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Due to public demand, the same company, under the direction of Penny Aberdein, has produced an audio CD of the production, and this was launched in the Stromness Town Hall.
Recorded at Attic Studios in Finstown, this well-loved tale of island folk, whose way of life becomes threatened, has a cast of Orcadian voices, and original incidental music by John Gray.
The CD is due to go on sale next week.
