Three-day fundraiser at the Rugby Club

The Orkney Rugby Club is to celebrate all things Scotland this month during the club’s Real Ale Weekend fundraiser, which kicked off in Kirkwall last night.

Event organiser Erik Knight said: “Last year, the folk attending the event managed to consume around 17 casks of ale, or 12,500 pints, which was slightly short of our targeted 20 casks — so we will have to try harder this year!

“It was a great fundraiser for the club and every penny helps,” he added.

“We’re always looking at different fundraising ideas, and last year’s event’s success meant we had to try it again.”

The event is sponsored by the Orkney Brewery.
