Virtual munro challenge starts on Monday

A race to see who in Orkney can climb the most mountains – virtually – starts at all Healthy Living Centres in the county from Monday.

Participants can use any fitness equipment at their local Centre to “climb” – or row, or run – a Scottish munro, based on an average distance, including gradient, of 3km.

Two overall trophies are up for grabs – best male and best female across all Healthy Living Centres.

The Healthy Living Centres will be competing against each other to see which Centre ‘bags’ the most munros during the competition period.

Manager of the Healthy Living Centres, Gordon Hill, said: “We’re hoping the Challenge will be a fun and convenient way to help people to stay fit this winter, and maybe bring some new faces into the Healthy Living Centres.”

To take part, pick up a scorecard from your local Healthy Living centre and start keeping tally.
