Watch the birds for the Big Garden Birdwatch

BirdwatchPeople in Orkney are urged to keep an eye out for feathered-friends this weekend, as part of the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Birdwatch.

The event takes place today, Saturday, and tomorrow, and will see people across the length and breadth of the country take part in  what has been called the biggest garden wildlife survey in the world.

Last year saw 230 people in Orkney join over 47,000 people in Scotland to count the birds in their garden or local parks.

The most common garden visitor on Orkney was the starling, with an average of twenty spotted at any one time.

Visit www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch for more information on how to take part.
