Westray council houses completed
The first council houses to be built for 40 years in Orkney’s North Isles, will open their doors to the public next week.
An open afternoon will take place from 3.30pm on Tuesday, January 29, giving the public a chance to take a peek at the new houses.
Hirstquoy, a four-house development in Pierowall, is the latest stage in the council’s ongoing housing development programme, which will see around 236 new council houses become available in the county.
Part funded by the Scottish Government’s innovation and investment fund, the Hirstquoy development consists of four semi-detached houses. There are two 2-bedroom properties and two 3-bedroom properties. The main contractors on the project were Orkney Builders.
