Yellow Weather Warning in force as Storm Georgina hits Orkney
A Yellow Weather Warning of wind has been issued for Orkney for the duration of this afternoon, Wednesday, as Storm Georgina batters her way across the UK.
According to the Met Office, up to 70 mph winds are expected in the North of Scotland, and this may cause some transport delays and cancellations. This includes Pentland Ferries, who have called off their 11.30am sailing to Gills Bay and their 1.30pm sailing to St Margaret’s Hope, due to the adverse weather.
The weather forecaster has also warned that short-term loss of power and other services is possible in some areas in this region.
