Council welcomes Golden Eagle agreement
Orkney Island Council has welcomed the news that Talisman Energy (UK) has signed an agreement to provide transportation and processing services to the Golden Eagle development through its Flotta terminal.
The OIC’s chairman of development and infrastructure, Councillor James Stockan, said: “We welcome this announcement. It is great news for Orkney. The last few years have seen some difficult times for our local industries and this brings a welcome boost to our economy, the Flotta oil terminal and its workforce.”
Vice-convener Councillor Jim Foubister said: “We look forward to the first delivery from the Golden Eagle development in late 2014. This is the most important development for the terminal since Talisman took over and its estimated that the amount of oil handled by the terminal will double as a result. I’m particularly pleased that this development will secure the continuing employment of the 200-strong workforce at the terminal. ”
