Final call for Orkney creative place bid

Are you looking to hold a creative event or activity in Orkney next year? If so, the Orkney Arts Forum would be interested in hearing from you as part of their next bid for a Creative Place Award — but with a deadline of the end of July, time is short.

Orkney was shortlisted in 2012, for a Creative Place Award of £150,000 from Creative Scotland, which was eventually won by Kilmarnock. Applications are now open for the 2014 awards, and the Arts Forum is in the process of putting together an Orkney-wide bid.

As part of the bid, the forum will be putting together a proposal about the local events that could benefit from the funding. The award is not intended to fund core programmes of existing events but the proposal could include stand-alone events or activities or creatively enhanced existing programmes

If you would like to be included, you will need to provide a draft outline and costs for your enhanced event, which will then be included in the overall bid. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the application, or receive an event outline template, please contact Pam Beasant at pam.beasant@orkney.gov.uk, telephone 873535 ext. 2406, or write to Pam at Orkney Islands Council, School Place, Kirkwall, Orkney KW15 1NY.

The final deadline for submitting expressions of interest is 5pm on Wednesday, July 31.
