ICIT wins funding for ten scholarships

The Orkney campus of Heriot-Watt University, the International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT), has been awarded ten scholarships for UK students to study on its MSc courses.

ICIT pioneered marine energy investigations in Orkney as far back as 1990 and has since seen over 350 MSc students pass through its courses.

The scholarships are open to UK residents and provide support for both course fees and a modest contribution to living costs.

According to ICIT, the award of the scholarships provides a tremendous boost to the centre’s activities at a time where growth in both the teaching and research activities are top of the agenda.

It is hoped that the availability of the scholarships for students starting in September will encourage an even greater proportion of local people to take the courses available here in Orkney.
