Junior Inter-county challenge this weekend
Orkney’s young athletes will be looking to turn the tides this weekend when they take on Shetland in the annual Junior Inter-County.
Orkney have only lifted the coveted Stuart Cup four times in the last 20 years, with their last victory coming in 2007.
The action begins tomorrow, Saturday, with the netball match, which takes place in the Pickaquoy Centre at 10.30am. Spectators will then have to make their way to the Kirkwall Swimming Pool for the swimming races which begin at 2pm. The day concludes with the football match, with kick-off at 6pm, on the Pickaquoy infield pitch.
Both of Sunday’s events take place at the Pickaquoy Centre. The athletics starts at 11am, running most of the day, before the hockey contest rounds-off the action, with a 4pm start.
