MSP wants recognition for Orkney’s grassroots football

Orkney’s MSP Liam McArthur wants to see the county’s football coaches, teams and volunteers recognised for the work that they do.

Mr McArthur is encouraging nominations from Orkney for the Scottish FA’s Grassroots Awards, due to be announced later this year.

He said: “I may be biased, but I believe that what happens in Orkney bears comparison with the best anywhere in Scotland and deserves wider recognition.

“The Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, which celebrate what is happening in clubs and communities all over Scotland, provides just such an opportunity.  I would encourage anyone interested to take a look at the award categories and think about making a nomination.”
