OIC suspends chief executive recruitment process
Following a second round of advertising Orkney Islands Council has decided not to hold interviews for the position of chief executive at this time.
According to OIC, John Mundell will continue to serve as interim post holder for the £110,000 while the council considers what to do next.
The position was readvertised last month, after a first round of interviews failed to result in a successful candidate.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request submitted by The Orcadian later revealed at nearly £7,000 had been spent on the process — a cost that was expected to double once a second round of recruitment was complete.
Although a second round of interviews was due to be held in the first week of March, OIC has now confirmed that it will not be going ahead with this process for the time being. The council has said that it will consider and decide on the most appropriate time to re-advertise the post in due course.
