Orkney RFC’s match against Irvine postponed

Orkney RFC’s BT National League Division 3 fixture against bottom side, Irvine, due to be played on Saturday has been postponed due concerns from the away side and the referee regarding the weather warning that is currently in place for most of Scotland.

Irvine had been scheduled to travel north as far as Thurso tonight before making their way across the Pentland Firth tomorrow morning but with the potential for snow and blizzard conditions during their journey — despite reassurances from Orkney that the game would go ahead — the Scottish Rugby Union Competitions Committee have decided that the game should be played at a later date.
