The Northern Lighthouse Board ship Pole Star will be open to the public tomorrow, Sunday, as  part of the Eday Gala week of events.

The ship will be alongside in Eday and open to visitors from 1pm until 4pm.

The Northern Lighthouse Board has two ships to assist its operations — the Pharos and the Pole Star, which, with an overall length of 51.52 metres, is the smaller of the two and is a buoy tender.

The ship is in the county carrying out buoy renewals and servicing.

Also on Sunday will be a raft race, inflatable bungee run and bouncy castle, gladiator duelling  and a community barbecue, which say the organisers, should be a very good culmination to a very successful Eday Gala Week.
