foodshowA record number of Orkney firms are set to attend this weekend’s BBC Good Food Show in Glasgow.

Seven local food and drink businesses will showcase products at the event, being staged in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre between today, Friday, and Sunday, November 8.

The Orcadian contingent will rub shoulders with over 150 other exhibitors and top celebrity chefs James Martin, Tom Kitchin and Michael Roux Jr. Great British Bake Off judges, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, are also making an appearance.

The Orkney firms attending the show are: Williamson’s Butchers, The Orkney Chocolate Company, Orkney Isles Preserves, The Orkney Bakery, The Island Smokery, Stockan’s Oatcakes, and The Orkney Brewery.

Edgar Balfour, development manager for Orkney food, drink and crafts, said: “This will be the largest ever Orkney contingent to attend the BBC Good Food Show, which is regarded as one of the most important in the national food and drink calendar.

“It’s a big name event, with loads for visitors to enjoy, including pop-up restaurants, cookery demonstrations, book signings and, of course, product sampling, so it’s sure to be a great platform for Orkney food and drink.”
