Road resurfacing programme begins

Orkney Islands Council’s spring/summer road resurfacing programme for 2019 has commenced today.

Work began on the eastern outskirts of Kirkwall as follows:

Monday, May 13: Inganess Road (Deerness Road to Inganess Farm).

Tuesday, May 14: Inganess Beach Road (Inganess Farm to Beach Car Park).

Tuesday, May 14: Heathery Loan (A960 to A961)

Works are expected to begin between half 8 and 9 each morning although morning traffic will be allowed through unhindered where possible.

Short delays of up to 20 minutes may be encountered throughout the day. On rare occasions this may extend to 45 minutes on narrower roads but the aim is to keep this to a minimum.
