Rugby side win, footballers and volleyballers defeated

Orkney RFC climbed to ninth in the Tennent’s National League Division 3, gaining a second bonus-point win of the season at home to Carrick.

Steven MacPhail grabbed a brace, while Cameron Gray, Matthew Jackson, Ally Linklater and Scott Rendall also crossed the whitewash in an entertaining 34-26 win this afternoon.

There wasn’t such good news for the county’s footballers and volleyballers as they both fell to defeat.

Orkney FC lost out 2-0 to Invergordon while the county’s ladies volleyball side were defeated by Dundee University 3-1 in the Scottish Cup.
