Sport your trainers for Commonwealth Day

School pupils in Orkney are being encouraged to “Sport Their Trainers” on Commonwealth Day — Monday, March 11.

The event will see youngsters up and down the country striding out in their trainers on Commonwealth Day to show their support for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and is the perfect opportunity for schools and groups to get active and focus on sport.

Using Glasgow 2014 as the catalyst, the Lead 2014 campaign aims to capture young people’s energy and enthusiasm for sport and encourage them to be sporting ambassadors.

Hundreds of secondary school pupils and university students will become involved in sports leadership and participation within their communities while building on their event management, leadership and communication skills.
