St Ola progress to Parish Cup final
Birsay and St Ola will contest the 2013Â The Orcadian Parish Cup Final after the latter squeezed past Holm in an entertaining fixture at the Rockworks this evening.
The match ended 4-4 on the night but St Ola progress to the final by virtue of a better away goals tally – the final aggregate score being 6-6.
St Ola started the strongest and raced into a 2-0 lead within 25 minutes courtesy of a James Linklater penalty and Fraser Allan strike. A spirited Holm side came back strongly though and went in level at the break through a Graeme Horne effort and an own goal.
They then took the lead in the second half when Magnus Flett burst forward to slot home into the bottom corner. However, St Ola, with the wind behind their backs had the better of the second period and a double from Steven Tulloch put them in pole position to secure their place in the final.
Alan Ryrie pulled a goal back for Holm with less than five minutes remaining, to make it 4-4 on the night but it was to no avail as St Ola held on to progress on away goals.
