Wave and tidal energy information day

An information day at the Kirkwall Town Hall this week will present the latest news on the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters wave and tidal energy projects — among the first commercial-scale marine renewable energy schemes in the world.

The event will provide an opportunity to hear about progress with project developments, give comments and views, ask questions and meet a number of organisations involved.

Twelve project sites are in development with work covering surveying, environmental impact assessments and engineering design.

The organiser are hoping that members of the public will take the opportunity to meet key players in the development of this growing industry and to find out more about progress with the projects and the significant potential for the local economy.

The event, on Tuesday, November 19, runs from 4pm to 7pm.
