Young Orkney squash player receives national call-up
A young Orkney squash player says his national call-up is the best moment of his career so far.
Andrew Torbet, 14, from Stenness, will face some of the best junior players in the world, after being selected for the Scottish Under-15 side. The side will compete at the Five Nations in France and the European Team Championships in Sweden in the upcoming months.
His selection came as a surprise said Andrew — ranked number three in Scotland in the under-15 age-group — however he outlined his delight at being named in the five-person team.
The teenager also believed that more of Orkney’s young squash talents could follow in his footsteps and be called up to the Scottish national squads.
