Climate Challenge Fund application support event

Community groups in Orkney are to be given the opportunity to discuss whether they have a project idea which could mean they are able to obtain grant funding through the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF), at an event to be held on Monday.

Up until March 2015, £10.3 million of CCF funding per year is to be given out to community groups which plan to undertake projects that will reduce their carbon footprint and make community improvements such as the installation of energy efficiency measures in community owned halls, the provision of energy efficiency advice, lower carbon transport schemes, community growing projects and initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle.

In total 13 projects across the county have already received more than £462,000 in CCF funding. Two projects have also received £750 Development Grants to help them develop a full CCF application.

The next draft application deadlines are September 2013 and January 2014.

The event will run from 9am to 1pm on Monday 26 August at the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall.
