Curtains up for the final night of Drama Festival
Tonight, the final three teams competing in this year’s Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) Orkney District Festival, are due to take the stage of the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall.
Over the course of the festival, nine teams from local drama groups will have performed a selection of one act plays.
The three plays expected to be performed tonight are:
- St Andrews Drama Club – The Canary Cage by Diana Raffle
- Stromness Academy Players – 13 Signs You Should Stop Being A Pirate by A.M. Dittman
- Palace Players (Youth) – School Night by Joe Norton
Following this evening’s final performance, all eyes will be on the SCDA adjudicator, who is expected to name the overall winners for the Orkney District Festival, along with two runners-up.
These top three teams will move forward to the Divisional round of the festival, where they will be pitted against the cream of amateur drama from the North of Scotland.
Faced with rigid time restrictions, and under the scrutiny of an SCDA adjudicator, each team will be awarded points for acting, production, staging — including costume and set design — and general achievement.
