MG ALBA Scottish Traditional Music Awards — vote Orkney
The Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club; Orcadian all-girl band, Fara; Kris Drever’s band, Lau and Blazin’ Fiddles featuring Kristan Harvey have all made the shortlist of nominees to receive an MG ALBA Scottish Traditional Music Award this year.
One of the county’s longest established traditional music groups, the Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club is in the running for the Club of the Year prize, while Fara have received a nod in the Up and Coming Artist of the Year category. Lau’s acclaimed recording, The Bell That Never Rang is up for Album of the Year. Blazin’ Fiddles’ album, North is up for the same prize.
The final winners will be announced on Sunday, December 5, at the Caird Hall in Dundee, following the public vote, which opened officially on Monday.
