Police investigate spree of thefts from cars in Kirkwall

Police officers in Kirkwall are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward following a number of thefts from secure vehicles in the area.

During yesterday afternoon, Thursday, March 24, four vehicles which were secure and parked within carparks located off School Place, New Scapa Road, and Pickaquoy Road, had their windows smashed and items removed from inside.

Police Sergeant Bruce said: “We’re appealing to anyone with information on these incidents or possible CCTV footage to please come forward.  Should you find any items that you believe that may be stolen and discarded to also report this to police.”

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone in the community to be extra vigilant and not only ensure that their vehicles and properties are secure at all times but to remember to leave any valuables or personal effects out of view for any opportunists”

“If you believe you can assist our investigation, please come to Kirkwall Police Station or telephone 101.  Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
