Recycling centre closures over jubilee weekend

All of Orkney’s dumps will be closed as celebrations begin next week Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Orkney Islands Council (OIC) has confirmed that all its household waste and recycling centre will be closed on Thursday, June 2 and Friday.

Sites at Garson, Hatston and St Margaret’s Hope will reopen on Saturday, June 4, with the remaining sites reopening as per their normal opening days in the following week.

Kerbside waste and recycling collections for householders will however take place as normal over the Jubilee period.

Chinglebraes and Bossack sites will be closed to commercial users on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3. Chinglebraes will reopen to commercial users only on Monday, June 6. Bossack will reopen to all customers on Tuesday, June 7.
