Register to vote in EU elections, urges MSP Todd
People in Orkney are being urged to register for the European Parliamentary Elections before tomorrow’s deadline of May 7.
Research revealed that many who are eligible to vote in this month’s elections have still not registered yet. Unlike the Brexit referendum, EU citizens living in the UK can vote in European parliamentary elections.
To be able to vote in the European Parliament elections, people must be registered to vote by midnight on May 7. The elections will take place on May 23.
SNP MSP for the Highlands and Islands, Maree Todd, said: “People in Orkney and across Scotland voted to remain in the European Union — but even many of those who voted to leave have real concerns about the extreme Brexit now being pursued.
“It’s vital therefore that voters get registered as soon as possible. Whatever your choice — take part in this important election and register by May 7!”
You can register to vote via the UK Government website, here.
